Government of India has setup National Informatics Centre to promote Informatics Culture in the Government Departments and develop computer based management information systems for decision support at various levels.
NIC has also introduced State-of-the Art Satellite Based Comunications Systems in all the Districts of the country, thus facilitating easy and quick information flow both ways between the Districts. It has also created full scale facilities even in the remote parts of the country. National Informatics Centre started at Doda in 1991 with a objective to promote Informatics Culture in the District. The centre started functioning in the month of December, 1991. At the initial stage, this centre was equipped with a sole computer and few terminals and printer.

	VSAT Installations at NIC, Doda
At present the centre is equipped with latest hardware and its own communication network through Satellite Based VSAT's. VSAT's have been upgraded from time to time in the District.With spreading Information Technology across the Globe, NIC, Doda has also been provided Internet facilities through its own high speed VSAT and Officers / Officials of differnet departments are utlizing the same.
People Busy with their Routine Work
	NIC, Doda is the only place where un-interrputed Internet Faclity is available. Internet facility has been provided to all computers on the local area network and also at the residence of Deputy Commissioner. With the facility of Internet the District Administration is kept abreat of day to day happenings across the Globe.

Since its inception, NIC, Doda has played a major role in helping the District Administration in completing various time bound tasks. The Centre is of great help in extending the computer facilities to all most all departments in general and particularly to District Development Commissioner's Office. Round the clock Internet and E-Mail facilities are available to Officers / Departments of the District. Trainings / Workshops are organised from time to time for Officers / Officials of the District to keep them updated about the latest facilities in the Office and in the field of Information Technology.
